Why I became a dog groomer

Hi, I’m Stephanie — the groomer behind Serenity Grooming.

I’ve been grooming for over 15 years and have worked in a variety of settings, including corporate salons, mobile grooming, and my own home studio. My journey began at the New York School of Dog Grooming in 2002 and continued with advanced training at The Dog Spa Academy in Norwood, NJ, in 2019. I also stay current by attending grooming conventions and continuing education classes.

I’m certified in Pet First Aid and CPR through the American Red Cross at Nassau Community College (2025).

My greatest passion is working with anxious dogs, senior dogs, and pets with special needs — helping them feel safe, understood, and cared for. I love learning about canine behavior and finding gentle ways to make each grooming experience a calm and positive one.

Ever since I was little, I’ve had a soft spot for the dogs that were overlooked — the anxious ones, the seniors, the ones who needed extra patience. I’ll never forget the first time I calmed a nervous rescue pup during a grooming session; watching him relax in my hands showed me that this was where I was meant to be. Becoming a groomer wasn’t just about giving haircuts — it was about creating a safe, gentle experience for pets who need it most, and giving families the peace of knowing their best friend is cared for with love.
